Team registration open for 123rd OCU Boat Race! Entry also open for Osaka citizens teams

第122回大阪市立大学ボート祭Osaka City University will hold its annual Boat Race on the Okawa River (between Genpachi Bridge and Shin-Sakuranomiya Bridge) on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May.
The OCU Boat Race has a long tradition and will be held for the 123rd time this year. Every year about 100 teams compete, most of them student teams, but the race is also open for teams from outside the university.
The teams will be racing for victory in the following categories: the girls’ teams, sports club teams, cultural club teams, faculty and administrative staff teams and local citizen’s teams. The registration of local citizens’ teams is now open, so please come and compete!??
There will also be lots of other interesting events happening, so even if you do not race yourself it will be fun to come and watch. Students will be cheerleading and playing music, and additionally the art club will give an on-stage 10-minute music-led live-artwork performance, creating a large-scale painting. If you have time, feel welcome to come by with your friends or family.

  • For first time participants: we use very stable four-man boats and a?member of the OCU Rowing Club can join you to give you support!? (It will also be possible to?practice for free)
  • Any 5-member team can register!
  • There will be a great prize to win in each category!

Date 24~25 May 2014 (Sat & Sun), races start at 9:00
Location Sakuranomiya Okawa River
Between Genpachi Bridge and Shin-Sakuranomiya Bridge (Osaka, Toshima-Ward)
Categories Races will be held in 3 four-man boats
■approx. 20 OCU Faculties’ teams
■approx. 20 girls’teams
■approx. 30 sports club teams
■approx. 30 cultural club teams
■approx. 50 faculty + administrative staff teams and local citizens’ teams (including alumni)
※teams can also wind a prize for original outfit and original team name

Registration guidelines for local citizens’ teams

  1. Race
    The races will be held in stable four-man boats
  2. Number of participants
    50 teams (registration in order of application)
    Each team must consist of 5 people (1 coxswain and 4 rowers)
  3. Participation fee
    5000 Yen per team
  4. Race schedule
    All citizens’ teams will compete on Sunday 25 May(cancelled only in case of heavy?rain)
    The captain of each will team will later receive more detailed information from the Boat Race Executive Committee.
  5. Registration method
